Modelling clay is one of the kids favorite materials for forming.
As every clay-based material, it has great possibilities
for modeling; you can roll, stretch it, make small balls
and rollers – just let your imagination run wild.
Other important thing is that clay forces kids to think
about structures, shapes and forms. In this article we will
introduce you to one of the nice features for working with modelling clay.
In accordance with the current time of year,
we suggest that children make a flower of modelling clay.
Material to work:
- cardstock paper in color
- modelling clay (or any other clay-based modeling material)
To begin, select the colored modeling clay with which you will operate and make a “worm”. Kids can make “worms” in many ways, but every child knows that the best way is by rubbing modeling clay between two palms.
The next step is to make the grass. Apply glue to the bottom of the image. Shorten “worms” and put side by side as show in figure. After that, carefully form flower leaves.
Wrap spiral yellow modelling clay, and then glue the petals around it, as in Fig.
If desired, you can add balloons, butterflies, birds … that depends on the children’s imagination. Just be imaginative, and you will found a dozen similar paper clay ideas for kids.
